What I will not do

I will not accept certain materials for proofing or editing.

  • Academic papers
  • Legal documents
  • Medical documents
  • Technical materials outside my areas of expertise (Most of the time I will be able to tell you up front whether or not I am able to accept your technical work. I may request a sample of the material in question in order to determine my ability and willingness to proof or edit. If I must reject it, there will be no charge.)
  • Manuscripts or materials containing "adult" content or excessive amounts of profanity, crude or vulgar language. (I understand that in developing certain characters, a certain amount of questionable language may be useful, but if done in excess, I will refuse your work.)

I will not try to change your style.
I realize that many writers choose to self publish because they do not want to wonder, after their book has gone through the editing process, if they really wrote it. Most writers know what they want to say and how they want to say it, and I will do my best to respect that.
